Danielle West is a visionary with 18 years of experience in the field of education. As Chief Academic Officer and Director, West is responsible for carrying out the district and school goals to increase the academic achievement of students and maintain high levels of staff morale.
Her passion for student success and staff development has led to remarkable academic results. Under West’s leadership, Queen City Academy Charter School experienced a school-wide increase on PARCC Math performance scores of 11% during the 2015-2016 school year. The 4th Grade specifically has seen a 20% increase in ELA performance. One of her proudest achievements is improving student acceptance into independent, charter, and private secondary schools by more than 10%.
West has launched vital programs and teacher professional development that have led to academic improvement including the Children’s Literacy Initiative Professional Development Partnership and the PARCC Academy after-school program. Her tenacity for procuring funding has enriched the charter school with grants such as the Turrell Fund Grant to support classroom field trips, the KaBOOM! Grant/ NY Knicks Playground Grant, and the CAP (NJ Child Assault and Prevention) Grant.
During her tenure at Queen City Academy Charter School, West oversaw the schools expansion which increased scholar enrollment in grades Kindergarten thru Third. She also managed the $1.1 million dollar school renovation project from bidding to completion in order to accommodate the schools expansion.
West holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services from Lincoln University and a Master’s of Arts in Educational Administration degree from Saint Peter’s College. As a educator and lifelong learner her mission is to advocate for and empower the youth under her charge. She is an esteemed member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa.
