Karen Oliver-Moore

Responsibilities: Retired Communications Executive and Adjunct Professor, at Rutgers University-Newark. She is an adjunct staff member in the English Department at Rutgers University-Newark, where she has taught African American Literature since 2005. In 2016, she retired from Prudential Financial, Inc., where she was Vice President, of Global Communications, responsible for internal and external communications strategies, writing news releases, speeches, and stories for internal publications; and managing social, broadcast, and print media campaigns. Ms. Moore also has worked in communications with Bankers Trust Company, Texaco, and ATT. She was a reporter with United Press International and several community newspapers.
Currently, Ms. Moore is Board President at Queen City Academy; Board President of Plainfield Community Outreach; Board Vice Chair at Leadership Newark; Board Vice President, Homefirst: Interfaith Housing and Family Services; and a member of the Standing Committee, the Committee on the Diaconate and the Anti-Racism Commission in the Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey. Ms. Moore has a BA degree from Howard University and an MA degree from Rutgers University-Newark. She is a 2015 Fellow of Leadership Newark. Her awards include a New Jersey PRSA Award and a Clarion Award for media outreach; a Prudential Business Value Award; and the Leadership Newark Paul Flynn Award for Outstanding Service.
