Ms. Shereka Fagan was born, raised, and educated in Plainfield, New Jersey, and maintains long-standing connections in the inner city. Almost instantly, she developed a love for literacy early in her education, which in due course led her to becoming a high school English Language Arts educator at Queen City Academy’s Founding High School. Ms. Fagan has earned her Bachelor of Arts (English) from Arizona State University and prides herself on being well-versed in writing, as well as creative concepts.
Ms. Fagan, a mother to two Plainfield scholarly children, has always held such a passion for the healing, awareness, and success of at-risk and black/brown youth. This drive for “the underdog” achievement has led her to community service and engagement, and philanthropic initiatives. Additionally, with the teamwork of her family, Ms. Fagan dedicates two weeks per month to cooking and distributing full meals to about 60 less fortunate individuals right here in Plainfield. She believes that helping others is the gateway to helping yourself and she employs that statement by example in her classroom.
Ms. Fagan’s teaching philosophy is quoted as, “AIl students are unique and have innate skills to succeed. I value and recognize each student, inclusively. I am dedicated to building a passionately challenging and efficacious scholarly environment in which students can develop a continued growth mindset. I see myself through the eyes of every student and I am a cheerleader for their every accomplishment. No achievement is too far out of reach.”
